My research area focuses on democratic governance with special focus on poverty alleviation and disaster management across countries. I was appointed Australia Awards Ambassador for the year 2014-15 by the Australian High Commissioner to India. I have been awarded Australian Government Endeavour Post-Doctoral Research Award, 2009 and AIC Australian Studies (Senior) Visiting Fellowship 2007–2008 for visiting five universities in Australia. I have co-edited three books and have a number of paper
